UPDATE: NOT TRUE! Inaccurate post by a digg user.
Someone posted on digg.com a few minutes ago that “Gmail now open. No invitation or cell registration required“.
I already have a Gmail account, but I did do some testing and did not see where this can be confirmed. In my efforts I was not able to simply “sign up” … not without either entering an SMS number for my cell or having an invitation code.
I also check out Google Official Blog, if the news was correct it would be there … but it’s not.
We’ll keep you updated on what we here … if this story proves to be invalid, I guess this goes to show that you still can’t believe everything you read … even if it is on digg.com.
